R&J Equine, Feeding Instructions

Our supplements are mixed in with the food that you regularly give your horse. Most formulas are best fed twice daily and will not produce the best results if fed only once a day. They taste a little unusual to your horse at first so always introduce gradually mixing in well, dampening with water and perhaps adding a suitable flavouring like mint.

Many people add molasses but remember this is not good for every horse. Some of our blends are available in syrup form and these are palatable to almost every horse but are at the same time a little weaker than straight powders. Just like ordinary feed, our supplements can be fed at different rates according to individual requirements. However always follow the instructions on the label and phone our help line if you think you need to give more.

• Generally our herbs are sold in 1kg, 500g and 5kg amounts.
• Most scoops provided in pots are of 25ml size and most products are fed at a rate of two of these scoops twice daily for an average sized horse. More concentrated formulas like Skratch and Zephyr are fed at one scoop twice daily. Bute-X has a 10ml scoop.
• An average horse is taken as weighing 450kg and will be about 15 hands tall.
• A 1kg tub of a herbal product or 500g tub of concentrated product usually lasts 3 - 6 weeks in such a horse: 3 weeks on normal rates and 6 weeks at maintenance if applicable.
